Gabriel Chamber Ensemble Biography
Celebrating its 37th season, the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble is dedicated to presenting exceptional and engaging performances of some of the world's most treasured chamber music repertoire. Founded in 1989 by Simon and Agnes Maurer, this non-profit organization was established to enrich the cultural life of Schuylkill County through high-quality musical experiences.
Throughout its history, GCE has collaborated with distinguished professional musicians and guest artists, presenting both beloved masterworks and lesser-known gems from the chamber music canon. Notable projects have included performances of Latin American music with Grammy Award-nominated composer and bandoneon virtuoso JP Jofre, commissions of new works by Paul Salerni and local composer Paul Miller, and interdisciplinary collaborations with dancers and visual artists. The ensemble has been enthusiastically received by audiences in Maryland, New Jersey, Vermont, and Georgia, and has been recorded on PBS.
